The Flying Monkey 5K was established in 2012 by the Scott A. Garet Memorial Foundation to achieve three goals:

--To celebrate the favorite pastime of Scott A. Garet, who at 26 lost a sudden battle with lung cancer.

--To raise lung cancer awareness.

--To generate support for those working to combat lung cancer at the clinical research level.

The 2013 Flying Monkey 5K will be held on August 17th

This USATF-sanctioned event follows a downhill point-to-point course through Southpointe Business Park in Cecil Township, PA. 

Everyone is welcome to participate in the walk, and runners who wish to compete for awards are chip-timed.

Proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
